Our course is designed to provide you with practical knowledge and skills. We will explore various types of moulds, including ceramic, stainless steel, and Silkemat. You will learn the necessary preparation for slumping, setting up pieces in your kiln, and monitoring the slumping process. Megan will guide you through understanding firing schedules and troubleshooting changes, ensuring you can successfully fire your pieces. You will also gain the ability to adapt firing schedules for different mould types.

Once you understand the slumping process, you can experiment with the projects this course contains to test your skills and put them into action. Three projects focus on ceramic moulds with different techniques and silkemat processes, so you can put your slumping skills to work!

Class Description

This new course will cover all the techniques needed to discover the magic of glass slumping:

  • Understand the different moulds you can use to slump and form your glass
  • Review the types of separators available for different moulds and how to apply them
  • Identify how to change firing schedules for different types of moulds and why
  • Identify how to change firing schedules for different designs on glass and why
  • Apply your understanding and practice to several slumping projects


What to Prepare

  • You will need a computer, tablet, or phone in order to watch the course.
  • Ensure that you have checked the materials list and purchased any materials you may require 
  • A pen and paper to take any notes. 
  • We teach using Bullseye Glass (CoE90)

About this course

Megan O'Hara

Megan began working with glass in 2005, creating a range of dichroic jewellery, and helping to make tiles for 5th Element Design. In 2011 she completed an art degree in Creative Art Practices at Sheffield Hallam University and returned to Warm Glass to pursue a creative career in glass. In 2013, Megan attended a glass instructor’s course at the Bullseye Glass factory in Portland, Oregon and began teaching workshops for Warm Glass UK. In 2015 she took part in the Glass Heap Challenge in the Kosta Boda glass factory in Sweden. Megan is the Studio Coordinator at Warm Glass UK, responsible for the running of the studio and workshops as well as offering technical advice to customers, she is passionate about sharing her enjoyment of working with glass.
