Understand how to harness the chemical reactions that occur with Bullseye glass, with this in-person course at the Glass School studio. You'll learn how different glass colours are chemically related, and how they react with one another, without needing to know any complex chemistry! You'll learn how contact area, glass thickness and firing temperature affect these reactions - and how to use these reactions creatively to achieve exciting and unique glass pieces.

What you will learn

This one-day course is a great opportunity to deepen your understanding of Bullseye glass and its reactive properties when different colours are combined.

You’ll be introduced to the Bullseye reactive chart to learn which combinations produce the most striking effects. You'll also explore how to create effective test samples, maximise reactive results, and apply these techniques in a final project.

The course will guide you in designing your reactive glass piece and choosing the most impactful colour combinations for this unique process.

We’ll cover the tools you’ll need, the firing requirements for reactive work, and the best glass colours to achieve strong reactions.

At the end of the day, your finished piece will be kiln-fused and posted to you.

Skill Level:

This one day course is suitable for intermediate glass makers who are interested in learning the alchemy between different Bullseye glass.

Course Outcome:

You will finish this class with a 20 x 15 cm decorative panel and four 10 x 10 cm coasters.

We cannot guarantee parking immediately outside the studio and rely on on-street parking on neighbouring roads. Therefore, a short five-minute walk is typically required. If this poses access issues, please get in touch with us before booking a class.

What to prepare

Please wear appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes.
Please bring a packed lunch. Alternatively, there are shops and a pub serving lunches within walking distance of the studio.
All materials are included and all the necessary tools are provided.
Your booking information will be emailed to you before the course date.
This in-person course will have up to 4 students.
We teach using Bullseye Glass (CoE90).

If your cancellation is more than 28 days before the class, a 90% refund is available, or the booking can be moved to another available class. For cancellations up to 7 days in advance, a 50% refund will be given. After this date, we are unable to offer any refunds. Megan O'Hara

Megan began working with glass in 2005, creating a range of dichroic jewellery, and helping to make tiles for 5th Element Design. In 2011 she completed an art degree in Creative Art Practices at Sheffield Hallam University and returned to Warm Glass to pursue a creative career in glass.

In 2013, Megan attended a glass instructor’s course at the Bullseye Glass factory in Portland, Oregon and began teaching workshops for Warm Glass UK. In 2015 she took part in the Glass Heap Challenge in the Kosta Boda glass factory in Sweden. Megan is the Studio Coordinator at Warm Glass UK, responsible for the running of the studio and workshops as well as offering technical advice to customers, she is passionate about sharing her enjoyment of working with glass.
