Are you unsure how to tell your story and connect with potential clients, or is your artist statement an elusive beast you’re struggling to pin down? With this talk, Catherine is offering her insights on using language well in order to communicate who you are as an artist to the world.
During this talk, Catherine will cover practical and creative aspects of three formats of writing; artist statements, descriptive writing about your work and exhibition/competition application forms. You will look at examples and discuss how different styles of writing make you feel to get an impression of how you want your own words to connect with others. Catherine will also suggest some writing exercises to help you with your writing that you can explore after the talk.
The aims are to provide structured guidance for creating artist statements and descriptive writing, and to build the confidence to continue writing about your work in order to apply for exhibitions and competitions.
If you would like specific feedback on your writing, there will be an opportunity to book a private session with Catherine for an additional fee after the talk.
Catherine works primarily with glass, but this seminar will be applicable for artists working in other mediums too.
You can view more of Catherine's work here: https://www.catherinedunstanglass.co.uk/
Content warning: Catherine will be referencing her own artist statement and descriptive writing which detail experiences of anxiety in relation to birth and motherhood
