Claire Hall

Claire's passion for glass began during her years travelling across the United States when she met a small community of glass artists in the mountains of West Virginia and started to learn the basics of glass fusing and torchwork.

Originally trained as a sculptor working in wood and steel, the material of hot glass easily translated into her work. It was at this time Claire also started designing and creating glass jewellery, making glass beads over a hot torch and fused glass jewellery in a kiln.

Since then she has moved back to the UK and now works from her studio in Brockley, near Bristol. She has won several awards for her glass jewellery and exhibits nationally. Last year she was selected to showcase her sculptural vessels and jewellery at The National Glass Centre in Sunderland. Claire has been teaching classes at Warm Glass since 2012.

In the last class you very kindly gave everyone that had submitted photographs ideas on their next firing. However it was much easier to envision putting it into practice after the demonstration you gave - it made a lot more sense when played back the next day having seen the rest of the class. If possible, I would start with showing the practical, then go through the individual pieces, and then have questions.

I have absolutely loved this course and have learnt so much, truly inspirational.

I really didn't know what to expect from this course but have been a fan of Claire's work for a long time and was keen to try something a little different and more painterly and this has definitely delivered and exceeded all expectations. Claire is so talented and makes it look very easy but her instructions have been clear and incredibly helpful. Now looking forward to playing with this new technique.
