For countries exempt from paying UK and EU taxes, the correct price will be calculated at checkout upon entering a valid billing address.
In this talk, artist Marina Hanser reflects on the personal and artistic journey that has shaped her practice in glass. Growing up in the Tyrolean Alps and later living, working, and studying across Italy, Peru, Australia, and the United States, Marina’s path has been defined by movement, curiosity, loss, and resilience. Encouraged by her father shortly before his passing, she discovered glass not only as a material, but as a way of understanding and processing her inner world.
Marina will explore how each place and transition contributed to the emotional and conceptual foundations of her work. Long before formal methods emerged, themes of memory, vulnerability, and healing informed her approach. Grinding became a means of revealing, filling an act of care, and fusing a gesture of release. Over time, process and concept merged into a single, coherent artistic language.
This talk offers an honest insight into how lived experience shapes creative practice. Marina will share reflections on the emotional underpinnings of her work, the evolution of her methods, and glass as a medium of transformation.
The talk will resonate with artists, students, and anyone interested in the emotional depth of material-based practice.
